This is Ginge. No, not that kid that got bullied a lot in your class at school, this is a genuine bonafide GP2x emulator, playable on the Wiz and Pandora. I know what you’re thinking – witchcraft, right? But Notaz seems to have pulled it off, and it’s looking pretty spectacular. It opens both the Wiz and the Pandora (and potentially the Caanoo) up to hundreds more games and applications. My mind is blown.
GPH are planning a worldwide coding competition for their new console, the Caanoo. It is being organised by the Fungp.com manager, Jerry. Unfortunately, Jerry is ‘under a lot of strees’, so GPH would like you to give him a few ideas for competition promotion. Want to suggest something? Go to their Facebook Page. Let’s just hope that this competition actually happens, unlike their last one.
Oh, and see that webpage projected in the picture? That is seemingly the Caanoo’s website, which will be ‘opening soon‘.
The technology blog Hak5 were at E3, and paid a visit to the GPH booth. Their man managed to grab a quick interview with Tony Han, GPH’s ‘Overseas Marketing Manager’. We are shown a Caanoo being played online, amongst other things. Tony was eager to reassure us that the analog stick would not be a problem for ‘arcade games’, which is an issue often raised over at the GP32X forums. Regardless, the analog vs d-pad argument will continue.
Caanoo stuff starts at ~11 mins.
So we have some new information, care of penars and gdsense on GP32x. First of all:
I’ve found some new information written by former employee.. and here’s quick translation.
1) Wifi is not internally equipped. But, there’s standard USB port at the lower side, where you can attatch the wifi dongle. And other devices can be connected if proper drivers are supplied.
2) Strap hole is located at lower left corner, and stylus pen is located at opposite corner.
Other minor changes…
1) There’s cover for all terminals and sockets (which are on lower left side) except 3.5 pie audio socket.
Even SD socket has a cover. Continue reading 'More Caanoo Info'»
Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony have had their portion of E3 hype; it’s now time for the Developer Booths. Our friends at GPH are there to show off their new console, the Caanoo. So far there isn’t really anything of interest that wasn’t already unearthed in the leak, but a Korean blogsperson was there to snap a picture or two. No more renders, this is the real thing.
Updates!: Hit ‘Continue Reading’ for some new details on the console.
Want to be Gamepark Holdings’ friend? Of course you do!
Adding GPH to your Facebook account will mean that you’ll get the latest updates on hardware and software, but most importantly, you will be one of the first with access to the unveiling of the Caanoo. This is sure to happen soon, so add the official Caanoo page to your Facebook account now!
The website for FunGP, the game/app download service in the vein of the Apple App Store is one of the most anticipated new features of GPH’s consoles, and the site has recently undergone a bit of an update. There’s not much there, but it does give a new sneak-peek at some more shots of the Caanoo, and some very bizarre looking people.
I have just received a few snippets of information from Tony Han – Sales Manager, and all-around nice guy at Gamepark Holdings. Not a great deal to report on, but it would seem that more information about the Caanoo is very much imminent. GPH are putting the finishing touches to a catalogue which will be distributed to the press, which we will hopefully be getting a copy of to share with you.
In addition to this, if you have a Facebook account, you will soon be able to join the official Caanoo fanpage, which will contain more information on the unit. More info on that when it happens.
Anyway, for now, join me in wishing GPH the best of luck during their trip to L.A. for the E3 event – I am very jealous.
That Ben Nanonote, we haven’t heard a lot recently have we? Well despite few updates, it seems the unit has made it out of production and into users hands quietly but quickly.
As you may or may not know, it’s a tiny linux powered device with qwerty keyboard. It looks to be a nice little device for portable note-taking or Wikipedia on the go. We hope to obtain a device soon to review for you guys, but until then, Linux News has a review here.
