Win a snega2usb by giving it a better name!

By Skull, July 8, 2009 11:30 am

snega2usb

SNES and Megadrive/Genesis cartridges can all be slotted in to this device allowing you to play your games in emulators on the PC or Pandora, by just directly plugging in the game cartridge over a USB connection.

Only thing, the name ain’t very catchy, is it? That’s why creator Matthias_H has opened a contest for someone to win a prototype of it, by simply giving it a better name.

If you’d like to enter, visit the snega2usb blog and submit your entry via email. Please do not post your suggestions in the comments below; they will not be counted.

Short But Good! – Official Blog Update

By gp2.eXe, July 8, 2009 4:49 am

We have a new blog post from EvilDragon, and oh boy! This one is something you really want to know!

Hi folks! You’ve been waiting for the weekly report, haven’t you?

Well, I’ve been very very busy with various things, so I coldn’t catch up with everything until now.
And I’ve got some short but really good news for you:

Dave finished every single step which was on the ToDo-List of the case!

This does mean, that the case moulding could start REALLY soon.

We’re currently waiting for a review from the company – and will tell you more about the status as soon as we get some more information!

Oh, on a side note, most parts for the boards have arrived in Dallas (95%). This means that mass production for the full 4000 run can most probably start as soon as we give them a green light (which means: After we tested the 105 boards).

This is definitely good news!

Yes folks, the end of the road is closer and closer, so keep in touch while we cover every exciting step for you.

New Pandora Game Needs Developer!

By BLACKALiCE, July 6, 2009 1:45 pm

Long time lurker at the GP32X forums, ShatPank has just announced his plans for a new side perspective shooter for the Pandora.  The ideas are all there, and it sound like it could be good fun.  But there is one small problem with his plan.  He can’t code, and that’s where the developers come in!  Feel like helping him, have any questions, ideas?  You best get down to his thread which can be found here!

Zeq2lite, Showing Some Action!

By gp2.eXe, July 5, 2009 9:09 pm

Looks nice for being work in progress

MDave has just posted a new video of the Zeq2lite project, which might come eventually to the Pandora. We must say it is looking really great, but this is for the PC version, so how will it be on the Pandora?

Craig Gives us Some Pandora Board Shipping News.

By BLACKALiCE, July 5, 2009 5:15 pm

Looks like Pandora boards might be shipping to customers ahead of the cases, according to CraigIX’s latest post on the GP32X forums.

It should be made clear that the boards will be ready long before that, which we are willing to ship out first if you are willing to be careful with them and take responsibility for any breakages.

Looks like good news for us all willing, but as normal take this with a pinch of salt.  This is Craig.

Archos tablet with Android arriving soon

By Nova, July 4, 2009 11:46 am

According to The Inquirer, there’s evidence to suggest that an Android-powered Internet tablet from Archos will be hitting the radar of open source afficianados this fall/autumn, shortly after the release of a similar machine powered by Windows 7. I’ll take the one that’s not bogged down by a full computer OS thanks very much.

By gp2.eXe, July 2, 2009 5:55 pm

Craigix has made a new Twitter and this one sounds very interesting:

quotationmarksopenHow do we decide who gets these first 100 Pandoras.. and how might we organise the feedback? For the sake of software should we go all devs?quotationmarksclose

I have an idea! Send them all to me and I’ll relieve you from the stress of deciding.

Heh, well no, not really. But if you future Pandora owner have a better idea  feel free to share it here.

psx4Pre – ZodTTD Does It Again!

By gp2.eXe, July 1, 2009 4:21 am

Our good ZodTTD has been really busy with his emulator portings, don’t you think? And that’s such a nice thing! So, he has now ported psx4all over to yet another system:

Short, but smooth

As always we want to leave you with his YouTube Comment:

Hello from ZodTTD of http://www.zodttd.com !

I have recently purchased and jailbroken/rooted a Palm Pre. In doing so I have ported over my Sony Playstation 1 emulator project, psx4all to the Pre!

The Palm Pre, using some of the same hardware as the iPhone 3GS and Pandora gaming handheld, is fast!

In this short video you can see Wipeout XL running on the Palm Pre.

Note that there is no sound output (though it’s emulated), as Pulse Audio is required for the Palm Pre, and I have yet to support it. It will come soon. Also keep in mind I have not figured out hardware rotation or scaling, or whether it is possible. Until then I am using the raw framebuffer device and blitting 320×240 software scaled.

I figured out how to read the keypad device on the Palm Pre, though there are times it fails to give a keyup event, making keys “stick”. This is annoying and I’m looking for a workaround.

As things progress I will have fullscreen landscape working as well.

Thanks,
ZodTTD

Dear reader, surely you agree: ZodTTD, you are doing a great job!
