And We’re Still Alive!

No,  we haven’t just defeated a Slightly-Maniac-Cake-Loving Supercomputer. We received a new update from EvilDragon on the Official Blog:

quotationmarksopenHi, it’s time again for the weekly report on what has happened.
Craig finally resolved the customs issue, so the parts (parts for 2000 Pandoras) finally are moving towards their destination.
The other 2000 parts did pass the customs without any problems a few days earlier, btw.
So, first test mass production is still due to be finished on July 20th (you know, the ones we ordered a while ago) and all the parts are also on their way – which means: COMPLETE mass production of the boards could be happening soon!

The final puzzle piece for the final unit is the case. What’s the status with that, you might ask?
Well, as said a while ago, Dave doesn’t have too much time at the moment, as he is very busy with his normal job. However, he continues to work on the case, day by day. And I’m really happy that the To-Do-List has really grown short.
So short, that he might even finish it within the next few days! There’s a light at the end of the tunnel! Finally, I can see it!

On to some other questions and stuff I’ve seen on the boards: A lot of guys are asking what happened to the video craig promised to you.
Well, as you all know, he planned shooting a long one. That does take time, though. And during that, the custom problems happened. Craig spent all days trying to resolve those issues… so he couldn’t spend any time on the video.
- And I guess you wouldn’t want more delay because of the video, right?
Also, there’s not too we could show you: You’ve seen the working prototype… and that is the last status before the FINAL unit is ready. I know you love videos… and the time between the protoype and the final unit seems endless – but there’s not much we can do except wait for it. Those things do take time and we also have to wait for the boards and cases to be finished.
Heh – you know what’s funny? I read somewhere on the boards that for some time moves so slowly while waiting for the Pandora… it’s the complete opposite for us. Time seems to fly by. Whoops, another week gone.

Let’s wait together, shall we? I know there are some OMAP3 devices coming – but none will be as open and supported for homebrew and Linux as the Pandora is.quotationmarksclose

Sure EvilDragon, we can wait, as long as you keep supplying us with delicious and moist… updates.

psx4iphone on the 3GS

By gp2.eXe, June 24, 2009 6:19 pm

Hello there! Remember on our last entry about gpSPhone by ZodTTD?
Recalling his YouTube comment he said he might port psx4iPhone to the 3GS. Well, guess what?

As you can see it’s running nicely

psx4iPhone is a Playstation emulator, in case you had doubts. His YouTube comment:

Hello from ZodTTD of ZodTTD.com !

Here is a quickly made video of psx4iphone running on the iPhone 3GS (not jailbroken). The game being played is Final Fantasy 7. I apologize for the low production quality and having too much zoom. Better videos will come, requests for any particular games?

Note that the psx4iphone build in this video has no frameskip and is still running great!

If you are interested in previewing psx4iphone on your non-jailbroken iPhone 3GS, here’s your chance:

That link leads to ZodTTD’s blog, where he explains how to be able to test this build on your own 3GS. Wanna try?

gpSPhone on The iPhone 3GS

By gp2.eXe, June 20, 2009 8:28 am

News for the emulation friends that have the new iPhone 3GS:

ZodTTD has just gotten gpSPhone running very smoothly, in fact at around 180 FPS without frameskipping!

For those of you who don’t know, gpSPhone is a GBA emulator for the iPhone, and is a port of Exophase’s emulator, gpSP. But enough with the data, we want the action! So, he gives us a taste of it:

And here’s his comment on the YouTube page:

Hello from ZodTTD of ZodTTD.com

I maintain the port of gpSP, the PSP/GP2X Gameboy Advance emulator by Exophase, for the iPhone.

My port is called gpSPhone, and I just got it up and running on the iPhone 3GS. I am code signing it myself, as there is no jailbreak available.

The iPhone 3GS is extremely powerful, as it is based on the ARM Cortex A8 processor clocked at 600MHz, and has a PowerVR SGX.

This same hardware is in the OpenPandora.org Pandora gaming handheld which I obtained fullspeed Sony Playstation 1 emulation in psx4pandora.

You can see in this video that Pokemon Emerald is running at around 150 to 225 FPS (frames per second), with sound and 0 frameskip!

Call it a comeback! Time for me to bring psx4iphone back! ;)

Thanks,
ZodTTD

GBAx Wiz Delay Explained

By Nova, June 18, 2009 10:55 am

Craig, of GBAx has explained that because Gamepark are flashing all new Wiz consoles to the latest firmware before shipping them out, GBAx is out of stock. This means, however there will be delays for all sellers, not just GBAx. Could explain why PlayAsia’s product listing for the Wiz says “(restock end of June / early July 2009)”.

However, Craig and the gang are more optimistic, expecting the next shipment of the Wiz “middle to the end of next week”.

Many thanks to RupeeClock for the info.
